NBC News: In what is shaping up to be one of the most hotly contested Senate races in 2022, one that could decide control of a chamber that is currently split 50-50, the newly minted Republican nominee begins his general election bid with a polling and fundraising deficit…
Kelly campaign manager Emma Brown said the senator is “an independent leader who cuts through political noise to deliver real results for Arizonans, like lowering costs at the grocery store and gas pump” and “creating good-paying Arizona jobs.”…
Kelly is currently running a TV ad attacking corporate “price gouging” by oil companies who are “earning record profits” by exploiting a crisis and calling for a cut to the federal gas tax. His campaign rolled out a Spanish-language ad touting his support for Arizona’s small businesses.
Fast Company: On Thursday, the House passed a bipartisan bill to help the U.S. compete against China, namely by steering billions toward domestic semiconductor manufacturing. The CHIPS and Science Act (which stands for, Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors for America) features over $52 billion for American firms making computer chips, and billions to go toward scientific research. The bill passed the Senate on Wednesday, meaning it now heads to President Joe Biden’s desk to be signed into law.
“Production lines have stopped in some cases because they can’t get chips. So this will have a very positive impact on how individuals manage their personal finances, but also this is a really big deal for our national security.”
Indian Gaming: “Arizona Senators Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema today announced $2,925,627 for Diné College’s Connect Navajo Project – an initiative to improve educational and economic opportunity on the Navajo Nation by improving internet access, providing more hardware, and investing in information technology (IT) personnel.
“Access to computers and reliable internet is crucial to students’ success in the classroom,” said Senator Kelly. “This grant will ensure Diné College students have access to new laptops, mobile hotspots, printing kiosks, as well as professional development training. We will continue working to bridge the digital divide for the next generation of leaders and innovators on the Navajo Nation.”
